Day 2

We are packing boxes, selling furniture on Craig’s list, and beginning to say our good byes to Virginia. It is funny to have such anticipation for the unknown. We have many friends, family and even people we have no clue who they are, encouraging us and telling us that God has something great just around the corner. Yes, it is frustrating to not know what is going on and yet, it is also freeing. In a very real way, Melissa and I have done everything we know to seek the Lord and hear from Him.
  • We have taken special nights and weekends to just pray, worship, talk, and seek God.
  • We have our devotional together on a daily basis and try to regularly hear the heart beat of God.
  • We have removed things from our lives that may bring distraction.
  • I have fasted on many occasions to show the Lord that I am serious about these prayers.
  • We have sought council from trusted friends and Foursquare leadership.
  • We have included our children into these times of prayer and seeking God.
  • We have told the Lord that we are available to whatever He has.

The reason I share all of this is to be transparent with you. I hope that in these writings you get to see the physical decisions and miracles that happen, but also how the heart pumps during these times. On too many occasions I have heard people tell others to trust God without the proper warning of the war of doubt and faith that will go on inside of their mind. This war is very real, however, if you will diligently stay focused on the Lord and not the screaming storm then you will have the chance to see God do His miracles.

This next portion is an excerpt from a teaching I taught many years ago…

Keeping Our Eyes Focused on Jesus

Matthew 14:22-33
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.
23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,
24 but the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
33 Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

1. No Matter what we are facing we must not take our eyes off of Jesus.
What are some things that you may face?
  • Finances
  • Health
  • Relationship
  • Having to move your church
  • Ministry

2. Miracles will happen when we keep our eyes on Jesus
Peter did walk on water

3. We must obey even if it does not make sense
What if Jesus told you to step out of the boat? Would you do it?

4. We must not hold on to our life or we will have doubt and fear
The only reason Peter fell was because he was scared of the wind and the waves

5. We will always trust Jesus if we keep him as the all powerful
Throughout our world people will worship that which is the most powerful
If it was the Sun… they worship the sun
If it was money… they worship money
If it is a position… they worship the position
If it is their Lord…they will worship their Lord
